"What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? Can faith save him?" James 2:14 (KJV)
When you are a true believer works come as a product of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Do not be deceived into thinking works of the flesh are works that last. Only what is done for Christ will last. There is no good thing in the flesh. The only good we can boast about is that which the Holy Spirit does through and in us. So, do not try to perform works that you think are good, but rather be led by the Spirit which gives us unction to perform the works that He is calling us to. These my brethren are the works that bring profit t your eternal soul.
We are constantly trying to work out things through a form or method. We are full of questions. How do you worship? How do you praise? How do you engage in spiritual warfare? We are so caught up with seeking "how-to." And in this incessant search for instruction on how to please God and do His work, we miss the glorious truth that our very existence as a child of God meets the requirement. As a born again believer, you are a new creation in Christ Jesus. Old things have passed away and everything is new. In your newly regenerated spirit lives the Holy One; who has made you the righteousness of God. As the Holy Spirit leads and guides you in your Christian walk, your every action is praise unto the Lord. He makes you worship that is sensed everywhere you go. And He is warfare working in and through you in the spirit realm. As the Light that is in you comes into contact with darkness in the world, it marks the beginning of the struggle called spiritual warfare. We seek for guidelines, when we have the Guide. "...not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit saith the Lord of Hosts." Zechariah 4:6 (KJV) Every victory is accomplished by the Holy Spirit. For those of us who walk by Faith, the works we perform are initiated by the Holy Spirit and completed by the Holy Spirit. These are the true works of the Spirit in us that proves our status as children of God.
